Episode 7: Reflections
When I first started this podcast, a friend shared a statistic with me that has stayed in the back of my mind ever since.
"Most podcasts don't make it past episode seven."
Today, recording episode seven feels like something much more meaningful. It's a quiet milestone. A reminder that while momentum may come and go, passion has a way of finding its way back.
Like many creative projects, this podcast began with excitement and enthusiasm. Then life happened. Other priorities took centre stage, and there were moments where the space to create simply wasn't there. But the desire to continue never disappeared.
This podcast has always been a passion project. One that I knew, deep down, I was meant to keep returning to.
As I look ahead to the incredible conversations planned for future episodes, I also wanted to pause and acknowledge every woman who has already trusted me with her story. Every guest who has joined me has stepped into podcasting for the very first time, sharing her knowledge, her work and a piece of herself. I'm incredibly grateful for each of them.
The Conversation That Changed Everything
Long before this podcast existed, I found myself on a retreat in Bali following the end of my marriage.
It was a season of deep healing, and I was surrounded by extraordinary women who offered kindness, encouragement and quiet support when I needed it most.
During one conversation, I shared a dream that had lived in my heart for years.
"I'd love to start a podcast."
One of those women, Mel, responded without hesitation.
"Great. What do we need to do to get you podcasting?"
She may not even remember saying those words.
But I do.
Sometimes the things we say so casually become the very words someone else has been waiting to hear. That simple moment of belief gave me permission to stop dreaming about it and start creating it.
This episode is dedicated to Mel, Rita and Louise, and to every woman who has encouraged me along the way.
Why It's Called The Seven Sisters
After returning home, I sat with a notebook and began writing the names of the women and practitioners who had helped me navigate one of the most difficult seasons of my life.
My kinesiologist.
My therapist.
My chiropractor.
The women who had supported me emotionally, spiritually and physically.
When I finished writing, I counted the names.
There were seven.
Not long afterwards, during a conversation with astrologer Nicole Wilde (who later joined me on Episode Five), she encouraged me to look up the Pleiades star cluster, often known as the Seven Sisters.
When I finally searched for it, something clicked.
There had been seven women in my notebook.
The Seven Sisters became more than the name of a podcast.
It became a tribute.
A homage to the women who reminded me that healing rarely happens alone, and that the people who guide us through life's hardest moments often leave a lasting imprint on who we become.
A Space for Connection
One of the most humbling parts of this journey has been seeing listeners tuning in from around the world.
What began as a personal project has grown into something I never imagined. Knowing these conversations are reaching people across different countries, cultures and walks of life continues to surprise and inspire me.
My hope has always been simple.
To introduce women to practitioners, modalities and ways of thinking that may help them navigate life with greater understanding and compassion.
Sometimes that means discovering something entirely new.
Sometimes it simply reminds us of something we once knew, but perhaps needed to revisit.
Looking After Ourselves Matters
If there's one message I hope runs through every episode of this podcast, it's this:
Looking after ourselves isn't a luxury.
It isn't something we earn after everything else is done.
It's essential. The more we care for ourselves, the more present we can be for our families, our communities and the people we love.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for listening, for sharing these conversations and for walking alongside me as this journey continues.
Alongside the podcast, I've recently begun recording guided meditations and affirmations on Insight Timer, and I'm excited to see where this path leads next.
For now, I'm simply grateful that you're here.
Until next time, take care of yourself.
